I am a community member (e.g. local resident). Can I use the library?

Answer

Community Members

Who is eligible?

The PCC Shatford Library is open to members of the community. There is no fee to use the library (but please see below about checking out books).

The library provides a limited number of guest computers; visit the Circulation Desk to obtain access. Additionally, WiFi is available throughout the PCC campus, using the network PCC_Campus, no password required. Community members can access our databases on our guest computers or on our public WiFi network, but not from off-campus.

If you're a local high school student, please see details about your privileges at the PCC Library.

Checking out books: If you wish to check out books and you are a resident of the Pasadena Area Community College District or your primary place of employment is within the District, you can receive a Community Member Card at no cost. If you don’t live or work in one of the District’s cities, you can pay $25.00 annually for the card. The District’s cities include:

  • Altadena
  • Arcadia
  • El Monte
  • La Cañada
  • Pasadena
  • Rosemead
  • San Marino
  • Sierra Madre
  • South Pasadena
  • Temple City
